Research topics
- cell-chip coupling: recording and stimulation of network activity
- network patterning: microfluidic cell culture
- on-chip neuroscience: lesion and degeneration models
- printing technologies for biohybrid systems and biosensors
- nanoelectrochemical sensor arrays and interfaces
|
Scientific Approach
- We develop neuroelectronic interfaces using micro- and nanofabrication technologies based on ink-jet printing and lithographical methods. In contrast to classical microfabrication, the use of printing technologies allows rapid prototyping of flexible devices and direct integration of biomaterials.
- We investigate electrochemical redox-cycling techniques for mapping chemical cues from cells in real time.
- We design structured cell networks using microfluidic cell-culture systems to monitor and stimulate network activity at the single-cell level.
